The film uniquely combines the Western and sci-fi genres. As in the Westerns of old, you want to root for the good guys and cheer when they vanquish the bad guys not surprisingly, once the humans put aside their differences and team up, the audience gets what it wants. Since this is the Old West, it is probably not realistic that a sadistic cattle baron would cooperate with the poor townspeople he enthralls - not to mention the local natives, a wanted criminal, and a woman - but wouldn't it be nice if they DID all get along and find lasting comeraderie and redemption? For the sake of the movie, this is necessary it is, after all, an action-adventure film, not a depressing story of humans squabbling among themselves. When the planet is threatened by an alien invasion, humans set aside their differences and unite in fighting a common enemy. Intertesting blend of Western & sci-fi genres Pick out the seen before parts from other movies. We now get Comcast advertisements with DVD's. Too many shots of Craig making that touch guy face.Ī few extras on the DVD-nothing special. One of the talk shows Harrison appeared on to promote the film mention how 3 films in a row he played a grouchy guy. The Wilde character, I won’t do spoilers here, you could guess.Ĭould hardly see a lot of the night action. You have seen the ending a million times.
Played two famous movie characters Han Solo & Indiana Jones. Why, the current in the long list of this character. Now, we see latest Bond Craig throughout this movie & he got top billing.
I did want to be there for this one but could not make it.
I USED to be first in the door opening day for his films. I have been a fan & collector of Harrison's for over 30 years. Out of context, she is nude in one scene, just because the trailer editors weren’t sure they covered all demographics yet.Good movie BUT some things we’ve seen before & TOO MUCH CRAIG Thank the stars for some strong screentime for co-star Sam Rockwell, who we do hope isn’t reduced to comic relief, while a good deal of footage is devoted to Wilde, apparently typecast as “the girl” in these big splashy tentpoles. There’s also an uneasy alliance between the current James Bond and the always Indiana Jones, a properly grizzled Ford. The trailer puts a lot of focus on the laser-attack fights between amnesiac Craig (who seems to slowly recover his identity in the footage’s more spoilery bits) and the soaring, unseen beasties.
Well, if the goal was to hit mainstream America with this admittedly tough-to-market genre mash-up of western and sci-fi, Universal couldn’t have chosen a more meat-and-potatoes crowd than the “ American Idol” audience to show off the film to, and now that trailer has landed online for the rest of us to pick apart.ĭirected by Jon Favreau, the film features a star-studded cast including Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Olivia Wilde, Noah Ringer, Walton Goggins, Keith Carradine and Ana de la Reguera and tells the story of a group of Apache Indians and Western settlers in Arizona who must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city.Īs Favreau recently promised, the trailer hints at some of the aliens from the film, but doesn’t actually show any of them, though admittedly, there are lots of shots of their dragonfly-like flying vehicles.
